| School Bullying After the 2016 Election by WKCD| NOVEMBER 16, 2016
News headlines about a spike in school bullying since Trump's victory have exploded in the week since Election Day. Alarmed, some principals are sending lengthy e-mails home to parents about what they are hearing and seeing. Dr. Alex Bergen, principal of a middle school in Virginia Beach, began his letter, "I am writing to ask for your help." He said he'd been been "dismayed and surprised" to have received several reports of students who have been victimized by "disrespectful and at times, hateful" comments like, "You are going to be sent back to your country now" and "We are going to build a wall in the school and put you on the other side of it." He said, he "wanted to get ahead of it before it became something even bigger." To provide a sense of the tensions seemingly provoked by Trump's ascendance, we have compiled a list of some of the news headlines and articles on school bullying that have appeared in the week after the 2016 Election.
