Despite all the obstacles and misfortunes I may face
I am thankful for the life I was given.
And for the chance to succeed,
Which I choose not to waste.
When facing adversity and distress,
I have not grieved nor flinched.
Especially when bad luck strikes,
I'm hurt but won't be conquered.
Living in a place full of drugs and pain,
Getting accepted to schools,
It's like a game.
Of all the challenges
That surround me as a teenager,
I am not scared and won't be a failure.
The path may be bumpy
And the ramifications may be tough,
But I will always be strong
And will control my destiny.
